Going Home

Going Home
A Thoughtful Beginning

Bringing home a Pickwick puppy is more than a special day—it's the beginning of a lifelong relationship. We take great care to make that transition as gentle, joyful, and well-supported as possible for both puppy and family.

Each puppy leaves us with familiar comforts, thoughtful guidance, and meaningful keepsakes that reflect the love, care, and attention they have received from the very beginning. Our goal is for every puppy to arrive in their new home feeling confident, secure, and ready to begin life's next adventure.

Because building relationships with our families is important to us, we do not ship our puppies. Whenever possible, we enjoy meeting each new family in person on Gotcha Day. For those who live farther away, we're often happy to personally deliver your puppy for an additional fee. Over the years, we've traveled throughout the country—including San Francisco and Washington, D.C.—to ensure our puppies arrive safely in the arms of their new families. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is just minutes from our home, and Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is approximately a 2½-hour drive.

more detailed listing of go-home bag food/supplements:
Because we know how important it is for you to continue with the amazing food and supplements we have been feeding your puppy, we send home all you will need, plus set you up for an easy transition. We include everything you will need to give your puppy the best start in life with veterinarian-developed, USA made food, treats, and supplements -- a 1 month supply of:

1. Real Chicken & Sweet Potato Recipe, 10.3 lb. bag: Crafted with real chicken as the first ingredient, this grain-free recipe is highly-digestible and nutritionally-dense, perfect for puppies with normal or underweight conditions. Enriched with antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential nutrients, this balanced formula helps support healthy brain development, heart health, and a shiny coat.
2. Wild Alaskan Salmon & Beef Freeze-Dried Raw with Vegetables & Superfoods - Top the dried food with approximately 1/8 cup max with this freeze-dried raw as a "topper". Rehydrate in warm water or sodium free broth. Feed this combination of dried/freeze-dried twice daily (or 3 times if not training much that day, or if puppy seems to need more. Eventually, just twice daily.)

Add the following supplements at breakfast:
3.
Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Oil, 4 oz (half a squirt, or a few drops, building up to directions on bottle -- too much will cause loose stools). A nutrient-rich supplement full of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Sourced from wild-caught salmon and pollock, this oil supports healthy growth and development, promotes a shiny coat, and boosts immune function.
4. Gastro Pro Plus®, 30 ct: (1 chew, whole or crumbled, mixed in with breakfast food). This complete blend of probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, and soothing herbs supports proper digestion and bowel health in dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes. Developed by veterinarians, it aids in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle by promoting a balanced gastrointestinal tract.
5. Plaque Control™: We recommend this supplement daily for life. Avoid the risky anesthesia and dental cleanings later! A delicious, easy way to help control plaque and tartar on your pet's teeth, promoting normal periodontal health. Powered by organic kelp (which is sustainably harvested in the pristine waters off the Scandinavian coastline) and parsley, Plaque Control works from the inside out, through the blood stream, providing long-lasting support with just a few seconds of chewing. Perfect for pet parents who struggle with brushing their pet's teeth, Plaque Control is the simple, effective solution for consistent dental care.
6. NuVet Daily Vitamin (add to breakfast, sprinkle over food and mix with the water/broth)
7. pawPairings Superfood Seasoning Beef Medley: A sprinkle over food (optional, or on occasion for variety). Elevate mealtime with this delicious freeze-dried superfood seasoning. Packed with a blend of nutritious fruits, vegetables, and vitamins, this seasoning adds variety and healthy antioxidants to your pet's diet, reducing mealtime boredom and enhancing overall nutrition.
8. pawTreats (variety will vary but a favorite of ours is Freeze-Dried Turkey, Apples & Cinnamon. These treats are made with real meat and complementary fruits; no fillers or artificial additives. Great as treats or toppers over food, too.)
9. pawTreats (variety will vary but a favorite is Soft & Chewy Chicken, Bananas & Coconut Meaty Bites - these are great for training as you can break one piece into many small bites. Made with premium meat-protein as the first ingredient. Perfect for even the pickiest eaters, these natural treats are easy to tear and perfect for training or rewarding.
10. Urine Eliminator: Accidents happen, but with this enzymatic technology-based stain and odor remover, you can effectively clean urine stains and neutralize odors, leaving your home fresh and clean. Potty training doesn’t have to be hard. Safe for use on carpets, upholstery, and hard surfaces, this USA-made formula ensures a hygienic environment for your puppy.
11. Poop Bag Dispenser with Refill Bags: Convenient and durable poop bags for easy cleanup during potty training sessions or outdoor walks, ensuring a hygienic environment and hassle-free waste disposal.

A Little Piece of Them
Each puppy creates a small “graduation” painting before going home—a one-of-a-kind keepsake that captures a joyful moment from their earliest days.

It’s a simple tradition, but one we treasure ... and a lasting reminder of where your puppy's story began.
Picture
A Head Start in Life
Pickwick puppies don’t just go home—they arrive prepared.

Through daily interaction, purposeful socialization, and positive reinforcement, your puppy will already be familiar with foundational skills such as sit, down, touch, and more. Your puppy will have progressed far enough to earn their AKC Novice Trick Dog title before leaving for their new home.

To help you continue building on that foundation, we also include training notes, helpful guidance, and complimentary access to our Pug Puppy Prodigy e-book, complete with photographs, instructional videos, and step-by-step training directions and sequencing.

Their First Performance
Before going home, each puppy is filmed demonstrating the skills they have learned during their first weeks of life. These graduation videos capture not  only their growing abilities but also their unique personalities, confidence, and unmistakable Pickwick charm. Here are a few of those graduation videos.

A Lifetime of Support
Perhaps the most valuable thing that goes home with every Pickwick puppy isn't found in the basket at all. It is the relationship we continue to share with you.

Whether you have a quick question during the first week, need advice during adolescence, or simply want to celebrate a new accomplishment years down the road, we're always happy to help. Our commitment to every Pickwick puppy doesn't end on Gotcha Day—it lasts for a lifetime.

From Our Home to Yours
From their very first days...
to their first night in your home...
every detail has been thoughtfully prepared with love.

Welcome to the Pickwick family.

Best of Breed, CH Pickwick's Peachtree Hill Country Mighty Macintosh, TKN - our first bred-by-champion.
Bumi was star student at his puppy class today and has been pretty much bomb-proof in the world so far. You definitely set him up for success!"

"You do such a good job training/preparing them. Rosalina is the best trained dog in this house...everyone at work is always blown away how incredible she is ... Socialization, confidence, obedience ... And, well, she’s really pretty." (Vet Tech, mom, loving pug owner)

"The vet was impressed that his nostrils were completely open."

"So many people at the festival were asking where did you get such a beautiful pug from and we said from an amazing breeder in Alabama, Pickwick Pugs"

"He [Louie, out of the Beatrix Potter litter] is by far the most athletic & strongest of any other pugs we’ve had. He’s 18.5 lbs of muscle! I’m sure there are genetics involved, but we also followed your advice with the diet, fish oil, supplements etc. If we had the time, I bet he’d be a champion at agility. We love everything about him!!"

How to speak Puglish with a heavy accent: It’s a language where no means sing me a song, and come here means gravity has doubled and I must now become a flat, vocal pancake. ;)
