Curly Tales of the Piano Pugs: Tale 2 - Radiators, Rodents, and Room 104
In this short story, (intended for adults who are young at heart, not children per se), the Pugiano-Mobile is humming along the Georgia border when disaster strikes: a plume of white smoke and a sound like a "disgruntled tuba" signal a toasted radiator. Stranded at the pine-shadowed state line, the grumble is rescued by Bubba, a tow truck driver who has never before hauled a literal "choir" of eleven pugs.
With no other choice, the Pugianos check into the "Stful Eat" (formerly the Restful Retreat), a motel where the water is "vintage" bronze and the rats supposedly carry bolt cutters for teeth. While Miss Dior fends off the humidity with pure disgust and Riga searches for "minimalist" snacks, the legendary KK must use her soul-piercing matriarchal stare to defend their fortress of fur from a bold rodent intruder.
When the paper-thin walls erupt with a neighbor's domestic drama, the pugs decide that if they can't sleep, they might as well practice. Utilizing an orange 1974 ice bucket for percussion and the superior acoustics of the bathroom, they perform their first "road" gig—quieting the neighbors and winning over an unexpected audience.
