We are so excited about this litter. This will be Stella's 2nd and most likely last litter. The sire of her first litter (Christmas Star Litter) was Porthos, CH Dixie's De Treville Porthos, and the sire of this litter is our Parker, CH Wright's Triumphant Tiger Eye at Pickwick. Stella actually free whelped her large 1st litter and was an incredible mother.
Our progesterone testing and breedings were successful. Just last night we listened with our fetal heart doppler for heart beats and heard some delightfully healthy heart beats at around 200. Stella is doing well, though she is at the point now where she needs smaller meals throughout the day. We will be scheduling the x-ray/radiograph to count spines and puppies very soon.
More updates shortly!
Stella's progesterone on Saturday was 2.65, so she is getting close! We also did an x-ray that showed 5 pups for certain. The concern might be the spot in the pink circle which our mentor in Iowa noticed.

All week she has been a bit restless. On Sunday, October 15, we actually thought she was trying to go into labor. We went to our vet first thing Monday morning. Guess what? It was gas. ha.
Throughout the week it seemed she was always quite restless from around 11 PM - 4 or 5 AM. So, Amy didn't get much sleep, always sleeping with one ear open.
Monday, October 23 was different, though. We had a tentative c-section scheduled for 9:30 AM. Around 8:30 AM we finally made the decision to try to free whelp. Around 2:40 PM, the fun indeed began. (With Stella, it's not very dramatic so she can have a puppy and you don't even know if if you're not looking carefully.) That was the case! She delivered 5 pups all within about an hour of each other, and all exactly the SAME WEIGHT! Such a consistent litter. She had colostrum to provide them, and they each latched on, so we are truly blessed and grateful. We are still wondering about whatever was in the pink circle of the xray, so more to come. But, for now, Stella is resting comfortably, Jeff will be able to get rest before his all-day work retreat tomorrow, and everyone is alive and thriving Praise God!
