Scarlett now lives in Virginia as a companion to an amazing family to be a hopeful, future therapy dog. Scarlett is beautiful and brilliant but her temperament is beyond amazing and, as my grandmother always said, "she was blessed to be a blessing."
Scarlett was the pick out of 3 different spring litters. Pick of 3 litters so to speak and also the temperament evaluator's pick along with one other boy from her litter. Her mother, Stella, freewhelped 6 puppies with the Christmas Star Litter born February 22, 2022. And all 6 puppies were/are healthy and magnificent and beautiful. Scarlett was first named "Noel" (hence her registered show name, Pickwick's Follow the Star) until we realized that it was almost as if we kept saying "no" to the poor girl, so we renamed her Scarlett. She was just so beautiful, like Scarlett O'Hara and name seemed to fit.
She now lives in Virginia as a companion. She spent the first year of her life with us and was amazing contribution to our grumble. She and Bridget were best, best buds. Both Scarlett and Bridget are exceedingly healthy -- Scarlett has clear eyes, patella, level topline, no allergies, and a great breather. She participated in her first (and only) AKC BPUP in Maryland summer, 2022 and then she participated in a handful of show clusters and earned 6 points toward her championship and, (for a breeder) some very special "awards" when several knowledgable and experienced pug-expert judges complimented her as we exited the ring. (This is rare). In the end, we as breeders just wanted a bit more bone and substance, higher tailset and decided that Scarlett needed to move on to living with an amazing family as a companion. Her temperament is beyond amazing and she is brilliant. Perhaps it was a poor decision on our part with regard to our breeding program however, Scarlett deserves to thrive in a small family as the object of everyone's attention and she found the most amazing home in Virginia. Her new mother and 14 year old sister flew into Birmingham on 4/5/23 to pick her up and Scarlett immediately melted as she was loved on and fought over for affection. God speed to one of the most special pugs on earth and we pray you live a long, healthy, fruitful life .... having been blessed to be a blessing.

Thank you judge Dana Cline for awarding Scarlett Winners Bitch at the Magnolia Cluster in Jackson, MS January, 2023. And thank you for your nice compliments on her.
Scarlett is a thoughtful pug, yet only needs a bit of encouragement to be bold and try something new. She had fun with showing for the most part but it wasn't her favorite thing in the world. While Lilibeth or Miss Dior wouldn't even notice who was holding the lead, Scarlett was a times leary of having a stranger show her ringside but she's such a loving pug and loves people. She just wants to have the ETA and rundown for the day prior to new experiences ;) She won Winners Bitch in Mobile & Decatur, AL, and in Jackson, MS. She also won Best of Opposite Sex and Best of Breed Owner Handled and even a Toy Group 3. She won Best of Breed and the Toy Group in her BPUP shows in Maryland and Vermont. She is a beautiful pug with beautiful leg under her, an amazing breather, and one of the best temperaments we have ever bred.
We chose Scarlett (out of 11 pups from 3 different litters, Spring 2022) because she is smart and beautiful. Since we do a lot of things outside of the conformation ring (tricks, rally obedience and such) we knew she would excel in most anything she chose. Her focus is amazing. Here are some clips from her graduation just before 'gotcha day' and moving to Virginia on 4/5/23 . . . .

Scarlett (new name) had a blast on a 2 week road trip for her first BPUP! She conquered so many states …. Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and of course Alabama!
Scarlett made some new friends at the dog show cluster in Mobile and picked up some wins and points! Thank you Charlotte Patterson for recognizing this sweet 6 month puppy with Best Bred By, Winners Bitch, and Best of Opposite. Scarlett also won WB and Best of Opposite on a 2nd day of the cluster as well. Here she is with some of her friends she made . . . .
Wow! Huge congratulations to Miss Scarlett for her wins at the Cotton Cluster dog shows in Decatur, Alabama! She actually beat out specials (pugs who are already champions!) winning Best of Opposite Sex on 2 different days. She won 1st place in her class (Bred By Exhibitor), Winners Bitch, Best of Opposite Sex, plus Best of Breed Owner Handled. THEN, she went on to win a Group 3 (3rd place in the Toy Group)! She is amazing in the ring and performs as if she has done this all her life. One day, however, she did decide to be a little naughty (the judge said "she is a little antsy today") as she decided to hop and be silly. But, she still won ;) She is, after all, a PUPPY still! After her wins the first day, she and Heather and I took a short trip to Monte Sano Mountain State Park to kill some time before the Toy Group (and work off some of that puppy energy!) Here are some photos and a video . . . .
Her most exciting trip to-date was by far the Summer, 2022 trip to Maryland, New York, and Vermont with her first trip to see an ocean (a dog park at a beach outside of Baltimore, MD), her first taste of icecream (in Virginia) and Maple Creamee (Vermont). She was such a trooper showing so beautifully in her BPUPS and now has 9 of her 10 Puppy of Achievement points!
