Charlie Chaplin was one of our rescues and the sweetest pug you ever met. He was around 2 when his owners had to re-home him due to allergies of their new son. He died November, 2024 at 13.5 years of age. (He was born in April). He was of course neutered and not part of our breeding program, but he was a wonderful family member and so smart. He actually learned a lot of his tricks (like sit, down) just by watching Sebastian do it! Because he wasn't very socialized as a young pup, he didn't much like going out in public, but he was a trooper and tried for many years for us as we tried to push through this. He was most happy at home and sitting on the sofa, so we mostly enjoy life from the comfort of the home when possible. He actually LOVED to watch tv and almost every year picked the winner of the Westminster dog show! He was spot on with Banana Joe years ago.
Charlie stars in his own black and white movie "Charlie Chaplin Saves the Day" produced by Anna Meyers.
And here he is starring in yet another black and white movie!
Charlie truly produced some of the most special paintings of all the Painting Pugcassos. He only painted in black and white (and greys) but created some "best sellers" over the years!
Until he became a senior, Charlie had the most graceful grand battement derriere …. his nickname is Charlie Puglova.
Much to Charlie's dismay, we did attempt several obedience classes when he first moved in with us at age 2. He was a trooper and learned fast …if only there weren't so many people everywhere (and dogs!) Sebastian, though, was quite jealous of Charlie's class time.
As he got older he had a tendency to walk RIGHT in front of you through the house (slowly) and almost anticipated which room you were headed to. It was frustrating and hilarious at the same time. Like he was our escort. He also loved to eat poo ... unfortunately. But, he lived a long life so maybe he was onto something lolz. He was diligent at barking in the AM if we slept too late. On duty always, with his higher bark, but we miss it now. Treasure all the things that annoy you most about your dog because that's what you will miss most once they are gone. That's what gives them such personality! God speed sweet Charlie, our type A++++++++ pug and blessing to our lives for over a decade.
