Puppy Temperament Evaluations and Puppy Conformation Evaluations
Around 7.5-8 weeks we conduct 2 different evaluations with guest professionals. First, the temperament evaluation which helps us to determine an individual puppy's strengths, weaknesses, and know what to focus on with training and socialization in the remaining weeks the puppy is with us. Second, at around 8 weeks of age, we evaluate each puppy's conformation .... structure, movement, etc. by consulting other prominent pug breeders, judges, and professionals. The results of the evaluations will help us to determine if a given pup will be a good show prospect and ultimately potentially benefit our breeding program, or if a given pup will thrive in a more quiet or active pet home, a performance home for agility or obedience or therapy work, in a large city or in a quiet suburb, with other dogs and cats or as an only child. There are so many components which go into placing a puppy and these evaluations are one piece of the giant puzzle. Here is the form we use to record results but the tests are based upon the Avidog temperament testing.
